the Snuggery

That's what I now call the space I'll be using as my studio, once we move in. We should be in by the end of the month, I can't wait to get out of this place. Nothing but negativity and bullshit here.

There is something interesting about this new house though, the current owner has mentioned that he's owned it for about 40 years now. But the house is much older than that. In the basement under the stairs, you can see that previously there had been some work done to install the 'modern' heating ducts in the house. At this one point, where they have dug through the old stonework wall, which is quite thick actually, you can see something that looks like a short staircase (if you shine a flashlight in there), where a staircase shouldn't be. Actually nothing should be there. I get the feeling something has been filled in or covered up. I'll investigate more at another time.

As for the Snuggery, it needs a little cleaning up, but I have plans for this little space. I'll write more about it once things are all set.

Basement studio.....

We'll be heading over today to do a little touch up cleaning @ the new flat. To the left is a photo of part of my new underground studio area, needs a little work. This house is about 100+ years old, and I think once reworked a little, it'll be quite nice. On one of the outer walls is an etching of someones initials and a date of April 23rd 1919, it's questionable whether this is legitimate. There is another dated 1911, which is even more doubtful. So far I don't feel anything negative @ this place, like I did when we were working on/moving into the house we're currently still in. Time and time again it's been proven I should listen to my instincts, you would think I would listen to them more often than I do. Oh well, we'll hopefully bounce back. Right now I'm thinking whether or not I should leave the thin carpeting down there, or pull it up and just paint/seal the floor. Hhhmmmmmmm.....

New flat....

We have found a new place to hang our hats, with a sweet area for a studio/office. All I can say is thank God we are getting out of this place. The new place is located just around the corner from where I used to live. Anyway, I've already seen some great photo ops at this new place already. We'll be moving in soon once it gets cleaned up a bit.

The progress at my new deviantArt gallery is slow but sure, I'm pleased so far. Take a gander if you like, click on "deviantArt II" in 'my other links' in the sidebar.

here's just one of the pics........(above) I actually painted this in 2003, I think.

projects 08...........

I'll be taking on new projects soon, will also be uploading more here. Since writing is not my forte', I'm always looking for serious writers who are in need of a visual artist. Hopefully I'll be publishing some of my own stuff this coming summer as well. Anyone with an interest in my work, please feel free to drop me a message.

New project in mind.

Well gentle readers, I have a new project in mind. It's a cartoon idea I've thought about, after watching my little ferret friend. It's still in the developmental stage, however when I've got the first edition, I'll be publishing it at my Lulu storefront. I also, hopefully, want to animate this idea someday as well. I'll keep you posted.

wooden toys

wooden toys, like the good old days of yore.

Well gentle readers, That's my latest plan. I'm actually kind of disgusted at the kinds of toys and images we, as a society, are giving our youth these days. the latest toy I've seen advertise on the idiot box is a dvd/cd or something that lets young girls play and pretend to be "Stars" like the Paris Hilton type. They create this virtual image of who they 'want' to be, strut around like a pretentious starlet, buying clothes, 'bling' (I can't fkng stand that terminology), talk to their agents, sign autographs, go to clubs, etc... etc... this just tells youngsters that it's not good enough being who you are, be something else. Be "better". It teaches kids to be more materialistic, more narcissistic, and that it's OK to be whoreish these days, it's acceptable. I find all this bullshit to be just so very pathetic. I have a kid in my after school program that finds only things that involve violence, death and gore to be of any interest. And he's 9. WTF!? What's even more stupid is that his mother is a teacher. Society, in my view, is too fast-paced and time consuming to catch the elusive dollar, that people/families cannot handle it. Therefore it's the younger generation that suffers the most, and many things slip through the cracks. But that's a theory/topic for another time. I'm just stating that I have a plan/idea to produce the old fashioned wooden toys, doll houses, etc... something that is not cheaply made that will not break in a day or two, or you'd have to return due to 'recalls'. Something that will stimulate and help with solid development of the young impressionable mind. Don't get me wrong, there are many modern toys, teaching aids that are quite remarkable. However, for every positive product out there, there are 2 negative products. And as we all know, 9 times out of 10, what's bad for you is cheaper. Usually. Being an artist/artisan of sorts, this is what I would like to do (hand crafted wooden toys, etc...). It's what I believe in. This plan is still in it's early stages in my head, so weather or not it'll become a reality at some point is uncertain at this time. For now all I have are threads of hope to fall back on.

Feedback would be appreciated, that is if anyone actually reads my notes. Let me know what you think. Is this plan workable? Or am I putting blind faith in something that is no longer of any purpose?
